It is really scary to realise that Term 1's end is nearly upon us. I think that I've discovered why it has gone so fast as I have been reading the latest posts on many of PES student's blogs. The term has been jamb packed with interesting and valuable learning experiences and there seems to have been very little time to catch a breath! When I think of what school used to be like when I was 10 years old I get excited about all the rich opportunities for learning that are available to 21st C students.
Pt England kids, if you think Term 1 was awesome just wait for Term 2. All I am saying is be prepared for your world to get a big shake up! Continue to work hard and I'm sure we'll all "get through".

Eastern Soap Box Derby 2010
Sunday March 28 dawned another beautiful late summer morning. The second annual Soap Box Derby looked like being another little ripper! Slowly, from 7:00 am on, the 15 teams of drivers, pit crews and cheer teams gathered and with them the excitement. Race day had finally arrived. PES Racing were pumped. The car was polished. The cheers were practiced. The drivers particularly focused!
As it was last year, so this year the racing was tight with two of our drivers, Casey and Ala, qualifying for the knock-out round. Ala's qualifying time of 34.435 secs turned out to be the 3rd fastest recorded time of the day. Unfortunately in the knock-out section of competition Ala could only manage 6th fastest time and so missed out on a spot at the Nationals on the 10th of April.
We didn't come home empty handed though. Our slick Pit Crew, vibrant Cheer Team, focused Drivers and enthusiastic Family & Friends Supporters won us the "Best Team" trophy. Ala also received a trophy for being the fastest PES Racing driver.
What a credit to our School the PES Racing team are. It was a pleasure to be managing such a great group of students.
Let's do it all again next year!
